9 to 5
There's something terribly wrong. After a week playing mum to Bertie during which I left the house once, to buy him food and toys, I am actually happy to be back in work. Not that I suddenly love the place or anything, but to be out in the world, completing tasks (albeit menial ones) and interacting with society at large - why, it's a miracle!
This will last all of five minutes, or until I get some chump at the counter with a chip on their shoulder, whichever comes first.
Maybe it's because the day kicked off to such a good start when I bumped into 'Muffin on his way to lectures outside our workplace - quote: "I'd recognise those hips anywhere." (I have only had two hours sleep, so it could also be delirium.)

Stupid Cupid
With the aid of a pair of eagle eyes to rival Mr. Cherry, and a Carly Simon song, 'Muffin, a work mate might I add, has found my blog. Now, we all know how rocking the 'Muffin is, but do I delete or do I trust? Alfie could literally "ruin me" here. Answers on a postcard please.

Of Books & Bondage
Meh, today has been such a waste of time. I did get my hair cut at least, but I raised the subject of colour and didn't really get any constructive feedback. Still, my hair is back in an actual style, which is progress.
Yesterday, I had to go work at a different site as part of a 'lets all hold hands and love each other' initiative they have at work, which requires us to travel miles out of our way and do the exact same job but in a place where you don't know anything so you're basically zero help to anyone, and you're only there for one day so anything you do learn is a total waste of time anyway. Ahem. Loving the scheme, personally. But I'd been quite worried about going there because that's where the rumour about me and Alfie came from so I was more than a little paranoid. Heidi works there so I got to catch up with her and we had fun slagging off men for a bit, and she told me about her male friend who likes rubber and being peed on. Nice. Practical combination, though.
Anyway, I was counting the hours to get through it but it was fine in the end. Lovely Mybug came to see me. It was really weird because he'd said he might and just as I was sitting on reception wondering if he would and almost willing him to really because I felt out of my depth, he walked in. I only spoke to him for a couple of minutes because he had to get to class, but he came back later and helped me find my way around while I was looking for some books. He also gave me a Happy Hippo. (That's a Kinder sweetie thing, not a euphemism.) He walked around the library with me helping me with my job, then gave me a hug and a kiss and went to meet some friends for lunch. I really like listening to him talk. He's really quite insightful for a nineteen year old.
Let me just type that out again: nineteen year old. Same age as my niece. WRONG.
Before you start to worry about an upcoming onslaught of Mybug posts, I do not like him in that way. I just really like him as a person and he's so funny and sweet. Other people at work didn't like him and I think the general consensus is that he's weird. But I just think he expresses himself in a different, unique way and I find it interesting. Plus, it really helps his cause that he gets drunk and tells me I'm beautiful. I love that in a guy.
Off to see Bobby at the cinema with Dedalus tomorrow. I love stuff on the Kennedy's so I'm hoping for good things. 'Muffin had to cancel his birthday celebrations because of personal problems, which is a real shame. We were both looking forward to it and he was going to stay over so he could really have let loose and not had to worry about driving home. I'm sure we'll arrange something else another time though and I'm taking the Boyf out on Saturday instead (fingers crossed.) I still haven't a clue what to get him for his birthday so I'm going to have to go shopping at some point. Also, I want earrings. I have but two pairs. After many years umming and ahhing over whether to take the plunge or not, I've almost ignored the fact that I had them pierced, and cannot believe I'm not taking advantage of the opportunity for expansive accessorising. I really must be lovesick. I couldn't even get it up for shoe shopping last week.

Employee of the Month
So, Tuesday was my late night at work. I hate late nights and they're really boring but I have to say I get a much better deal than April with her solo shifts and encounters with El Creepo. Eek!
I shouldn't really complain this week (but I'm going to, natch) because for about an hour and a half, I was entertained by Mr. Mybug whilst manning the reception desk. Let me remind you I was having the worst hair day in recent memory and he tried to touch my hair and take a photograph of me, and gave me a hug. Plus, it's the first time he's seen my hair short. Typical. But he was really sweet and funny. The guy is the same age as my eldest niece so I can't help feeling a sort of 'awww' factor.
He also brought me a late Christmas present - a miniature Bible with blank pages and a hip flask secreted inside. This sort of thoughtful gift demonstrates the fact that he understands the pain of working here due to his own past experiences, and I'm glad he felt he could share his coping mechanisms with me. He said he should have put a nice message inside and I promptly demanded one. He made a little poem out of my name, and asked me to think of a word beginning with A. Apple was rejected and he asked for a more descriptive word, and do you know the first word that popped into my head was 'amorous'? He asked how to spell it. I asked if he knew what it meant and he said no. I told him, "Basically, you've just wrote that I make you horny." He started laughing and turned puse. "My boyfriend's gonna love that," I said. (I do this thing now where I drop my boyfriend into lot of conversations, just in case :P Oh yes. I've learned my lesson.)
He asked me out to lunch next week, so we'll see if that happens. And. He has a myspace. Mybug is adorable. Why can't Alfie be adorable?
'Muffin hung around after work until eight filling out some job applications, so I went over them with him before he left. Then I chatted to Dedalus online and helped one of the late night custodial guys fill up a trolley. Sounds like a pretty easy night, I know, but it dragged so much it was awful. I'd rather have things to do than try and make myself look busy and avoid the glares of the-woman-who-thinks-she-is-my-boss.
I'm on a half day today so I shall be skipping off merrily at half twelve round the shops for a quick nose for a pressie for 'Muffin's birthday. And maybe some shoes to ease the pain. But then I must go home and study for my meeting tomorrow! Oh no, the day I am exposed a a complete fraud is upon me. Ye gads.
My work ethic looks great from this angle, huh?

Wading in the Shallows
I have a couple of things to get off my chest:
1) Remember this? Well, I'm sitting at that desk right now looking at those doors. There is a reason office relationships are frowned upon. Every corridor holds a memory, perching like a little gremlin full of mirth at my evident discomfort and longing. Bittersweet nostalgia haunts me in my working hours. Imagine if he still worked here. I know an office flirtation might be a fun diversion in an otherwise dull expanse of time, but when you actually fall for someone and it doesn't work out... well, it's just not worth it. And if I ever felt a little crush creeping up on me again, I would do all in my power to suppress it like I managed to for ages with Alfie.
I'm trying to work towards a very sort of Buddhist, yogic, deep breathing, forgive the world, hug a tree, love thy neighbours screaming child, inhale a cactus... wait, scrap that last one, attitude of acceptance and gratitude for the times we had. Let's face it, I never thought the dude would look at me twice and if I hadn't gone for it then he wouldn't even have given me a cursory glance on his way out on his last day. I know I'm making more out of this than needs be but I was willing to give up everything for this guy even though I knew he didn't deserve it and wouldn't fully appreciate it. That's going to take some getting over. Bear with me. It's gonna be a bumpy ride.
2) Bad hair day in the worst way. My hairdresser has been in Australia for six weeks. My hair, it pays the price. And I still haven't fixed on a colour. I'm so in need of a new look right now.

Pennies From Heaven
Boooooo, I just got a bank statement through and it SUCKS! This part time lark is great when you get to wave off your boyfriend sleepily at 7 am, then turn over and snuggle into his pillow, but mamma mia I've got a lot less dough! Seeing it in black and white was a little disheartening. I need to get a proper plan of action in order so that I can justify it. If I'm going to be studying again I need to sort myself out and find a friggin course. Also, I spent so much money at the end of last year, half of my student debt could have been paid off. Instead, I have boots. And an Alfie hangover.
Back to the books!

You Prob'ly Think This Blog Is About You
Oh my God. I almost didn't post this because I am so embarrassed. But then I realised how shameful all the stuff I've already written is and thought meh, why not? It's not like I have any credibility to salvage at this point.
Today at work, the woman I like to compare to Pete Burns was in for the first time since the Christmas party. I knew if I was going to get any shit about Alfie, it would be from her. But I wasn't quite prepared for the total fabrication she threw in my face when she said, loudly, and in front of everyone, "So, I hear (Alfie) had his hand up your skirt the other night?"
I was mortified. For starters: he so didn't! The most he did was grab my arse. When I denied it she flatly refused to believe me and accused me of going red. She said somebody from another department told her and said: "You do fancy him though don't you? It's well known." I denied this also and asked: have you seen my boyfriend? She agreed he was ten times better looking than Alfie, who she described as a prick. She asked if we snogged and I said "No, and you can ask Lila because she was with us all night." Burnsy asked if we had a threesome.
Oh my God I can't believe they are making shit like that up. I look like a ho :( The thing is, we didn't even snog that night! I kept turning him down! And now this?
I quickly grabbed the 'Muffin for crisis talks. He was appalled on my behalf and said he would try and find out who was saying it. And he reckoned there was no way anyone knew I fancied him from anything but the way we were flirting that night, so it couldn't be 'well known.'
Mortified.
In other news, we have been emailing each other all day. All day. I got the first email at half eight and the last at 4:59. There was a lot so I won't post them all again as I have had a habit of doing lately, sorry. But, here is something that made me laugh.

that was the evilest laugh i have ever seen written down.
in fact, quite disturbing
I teased him about being really vain and agreed to hide the awful picture of him so that only my Flickr contacts can see it. Half of the emails are us sending lyrics from Carly Simon's You're So Vain to each other. Funnily enough, he liked the bit about all the girls dreaming they were his partner. He also said he is going to try and rent Alfie tonight because he can't remember how it ends.
I know I'm still rattling on about him but I feel a lot less under the spell funnily enough. I still think about him all the time, but right now I don't feel like I could give the Boyf up for him. I guess my feelings are still confused, but Saturday did effect me a lot and I saw a glimpse of the negative side to being with him. I still really like him, obviously, or I wouldn't be writing these kinds of posts and the emails from him wouldn't make me this happy.
The funny thing about Saturday was that the bit where I shouted at him felt better than the part of the night when we were close. Sure, it was amazing being led away by the hand (I love holding his hand, it gives me a giddy feeling), but when I just got so angry that I didn't care what he thought and gave him a piece of my mind, it was so liberating.
I guess my non-relationships are as screwed up as my actual relationships?

Frankie Says Relax
So, he's gone. Going to work is pretty much going to suck now.
As well as chipping in for the group present (chocs, crisps, and £100 Zara vouchers), me and 'Muffin bought him a couple of little presents. 'Muffin chose them since he had the afternoon off to shop - a Parker fountain pen and a suede filofax. In the card, I wrote:
WANTED: Office hottie. Applications to Chica at (my workplace.) Must wear Vivienne Westwood shirts and be willing to take them off! It's all good! love, Chica x
He came and gave me a hug before he left. He smelled amazingly good. He said he'd email. It was a proper hug. I was in a rush to finish it because I didn't want to look a fool but he held on.
Then, he made a surprise return just before five. He teased me about my name being wrong on the invitation to the Christmas party. After a bit of encouragement from 'Muffin, I text him and put: Where's my goodbye kiss? He came down from his office, we exchanged a hot look and a smile. He lingered for fifteen minutes but I was really busy and there were loads of people around. He chickened out and left. Gutted! I text him while waiting for the bus and put: Sod ya then! He replied that he came to find me but everyone was there. I told him he owed me a kiss.
Shambollox!
But since I have spies at work I get to know a little more than I should. 'Muffin was working late and Himself popped back into work after a bit of late night shopping. He told him that he had only realised what he was doing by walking away when it was too late and he'd been a bit slow on the uptake. He also said that things are going badly with 'Sarah' and that he doesn't want a girlfriend. He said he didn't want me giving up something when he couldn't promise anything in return.
Then he said: But there's always the Christmas do... but she's not that sort of girl. (as I'm scurrying off to find my red stiletto heels!) 'Muffin insists that Himself thinks I'm a great girl and that he respects me.
Just after I'd spoken to 'Muffin on the phone, Himself text me: Just looking at my cards again. You made me chuckle. Thanks. Which sounds like nothing but is a big deal from him because he never makes the effort like that.
I replied with something jokey, he did the same, and now I've left it.
I think I've done enough. Ball's in his court.

Closer
As the lovely Heather recently said, Huzzah! The 'z' on my keyboard is acting up.
Well. I have so much to report. I remember back in the day when I could write a whole blog post about Himself maybe saying I had nice hair, or choosing a seat near mine, or laughing at a joke I made, but nowadays, all those little details become lost by the great big stomping fact that: we snogged!
Yeah, boo, hiss, I'm a dirty adulterer. I know all that stuff in my head, I should be made to walk round with a scarlet letter, I know I know I know. But can you all just be like the Samantha friend and not judge me? (Please don't be the Charlotte, I couldn't take the Charlotte!) 'Cos even though I am going to be hit by a big fist of guilt the moment I see my boyfriend, right now I wanna run round with my knickers on my head shouting: whheeeeeeeeee!
I put my arms around him under his jacket and tilted my mouth towards his. We started to kiss each other hesitantly at first and he slipped his hands under my skirt. I moved his hands away every time he did it and each time he'd stop kissing me. "Chill out," he said, and then, when he wasn't getting his way, "You're not gonna chill out are you?" I told him to behave and pulled him back towards me, kissing him. I was stroking his face and chest and kissing his neck. He was still trying to get under my skirt! I grabbed his arse and pulled him towards me. I could feel that he was hard and then he started to grind against me. He had me up against this metal door and it was making loads of noise. Then I spotted a student coming up the stairs and we had to prise ourselves apart.
We talked for a minute. He berated me for stopping him. I told him I had to stop him because I knew I'd be getting a text in twenty minutes or five seconds saying he regretted it. He said he wouldn't text me that tonight. He asked me what I was thinking. I said, "I can't believe I'm snogging (his real name) on the third floor." I asked what he was thinking. He said "I'm thinking I want you naked." We started to fool around again but we were both getting a bit jumpy. "We're going to get caught aren't we?" I said. Neither of us had any feasible excuse for being up there. "Let's go," I said, and we headed back downstairs. On the first floor, he ducked into the fire refuge and kissed me again. Then we headed out onto the first floor and pretended to have a conversation about something I'd showed him and how he should always contact me and I'd show him how it's done. He said he needed my help to find out what's under my tights. Then I went back to my books and had a surprisingly normal conversation with Shelverboy, who really needs a better nickname.
Fuck, this is a really long post, sorry!
Onto the final chapter now. Himself and I managed to be normal around each other at break. We talked about movies with everyone. Then I emailed him: Your moves have improved Alfie, I'm having a good effect on you already! ;P xx
Himself: My moves have improved. Which moves in particular
Chica: The few I've seen.
H: I havent even started. When I start, there can be no boundaries
C: There are those promises again ;)
H: Well you only find out when you stop with the boundaries
C: Maybe you need to try harder to break them down? ;) x
H: It's quite hard to when my hand gets yanked away, almost rupturing tendons!!!
C: Two rendezvous does not equal access all areas. This is one place where knowing all the right people won't get you in!
H: Why not??? So what do I have to do then?
C: Because I'm not that kind of girl! No, really :P *sigh* Alfie would know...
H: Alfie doesn’t care. Alfie needs to break down those barriers x
During this, he kept having to nip downstairs to deal with people at the computing desk, and he kept saying things as he ran past. I complained that he'd mauled me last week, and he said that he hadn't even started. He looked all flushed and excited and happy, and I'm betting so did I.
Now I dont see him for two days, and then I have one more day with him.
I'm thinking the only way to go from here is down, right? But: I got to snog him! Huzzah!

If I promise not to judge you, please don't do the knickers thing.
Oh my God. It was a much better encounter than Thursday, when he mauled me. He was still trying to go too far though, the naughty, persistant scamp! But I'm getting ahead of myself. Where to begin?
Okay. This morning I dressed in the stuff I told ya'll about yesterday. Including the new boots. Just before break he came down from his office and gave me the CD he promised to copy for me and we chatted a little bit. On breaks and everything today we have been really chatty with each other, just about regular stuff and it's been great. For example, we were talking about Bond and I said I'm not a fan of the Brosnon because he is smarmy. Himself was dismayed and began quizzing me over what movie stars I do like. After first break, he emailed me to say I was looking good, and when I didn't reply straight away he came down from his office to complain I was being 'smug.' I emailed him back and the subject got on to clothes. Cue the cheesy lines from Himself: "that old thing", is figure hugging. Wouldn't mind doing a bit of that myself ;-)
Mid email frenzy, I had to go around the library with a trolley collecting books. He came and found me on the first floor. The aisle I was in had a table of guys who had been checking me out when I walked past them, and while Himself was talking to me I saw him looking at them clocking it. He said he liked my boots and I told him I wasn't sure what I could wear them with and asked his opinion; he said 'nothing'. Then we talked about the Paolo Nutini gig he's going to tonight and I told him I'd have Last Request on repeat while he was enjoying the real thing, with the intention that he'd then think of me when the song played :P Then we both had to get back to work but he walked along with me and my trolley for a bit.
Anyway, back to the emails. We got on to discussing a certain jacket of his that I said reminded me of an old lecturer ('y'know, if he'd been fit and I'd wanted to snog the face off him'), who I said was 'a smarmy Pierce Brosnan type.' (And here's where my tip of the day comes in: if you want to make a guy like you, comparing him to Jude Law seems to do the trick!)
Himself: Like me ;-)
Chica: I’d say you were a bit more Jude Law than Pierce Brosnan… Not sure if you’ll take that as a compliment or not!
H: Jude Law is a legend. But my head would explode if I was to believe that line.
C: I said more so than Pierce, not that you’d be mobbed for autographs in the street :P He could play you in a film though ;) xx
H: Jude Law could play me in a film?
C: Yep. He’d need to work on the accent though…
H: You are fastly becoming my favourite person ever. Although i dont know if my head will fit out of the door now to come to lunch.
C: Although, he has already been in Alfie, so don’t know if he’d want to work on such a similar film??? :P x
H: Alfie. Ha. Shut up x
Banter galore right? Am I right? And nothing is sexier than banter my friends!

Banter galore right? Am I right? And nothing is sexier than banter my friends!

Jude knows how to please the ladies.
So, when he came down for lunch, he was dropping all these lines about Jude Law, asking people if they'd seen the film Alfie, singing Hey Jude etc. Me and a woman I work with were in agreement that Jude Law, though pretty, quite obviously loves himself and therefore loses points with us :P Then we were talking about his new job and Himself asked me directly, in front of people, if I thought he'd be able to just get an assistant sent up to his office for him at his new place. Then Nutter was flicking through a kids biology book and Himself was going on about how interesting he found the body and giving me that really sexy look again.
How I love that sexy look!
So. After lunch Himself was texting and emailing to try and get me to meet him for a 'stairwell rendezvous' but I was busy until about half two. I was meant to be tidying shelves so I told Shelverboy that if anyone was looking for me he should say I was helping a student, and walked past Himself's office and started going up to the third floor. When I got to the second floor, Himself came onto the stairwell below me. We were laughing and teasing each other; I'd already told him I was gonna let him know his boundaries and he was saying, "No boundaries, we hate boundaries."
Once we were in our 'spec', he pressed up against me and started rubbing his face against mine and running his hands over my thighs. Our legs were entwined. I decided to make the most of it and not to lose my bottle this time since I was basically at the point of no return anyway. How I love that sexy look!

What Chica Did Next
What happens next?
I was on the third floor information desk. The people in the office behind me had disappeared for their break. Himself had already been up once for a spot of flirting, to find out what the sexy look I said he'd given me looked like. Then came the emails I posted already.
I was wearing this huge, silly smile reading them. Then a couple of students asked for my help, and I had to answer their queries. I started concocting a jocular way of saying no to his last email, when he burst through the double doors opposite my desk onto the third floor and strode towards the back staircase with a huge grin on his face. I burst out laughing. He lifted his chin and carried on. "I'm just emailing you!" I called. "Yeah," he answered from near the double doors, then he came back and said, "It's really dark in there too!" He looked devilish and handsome and excited. I looked at the time. It was almost time to finish anyway. I shut down the computer. He gave up and was about to leave. "Where are you going?" I asked, moving around the front of the desk. "Oh right," he said, and turned on his heel, leading the way to the back stairs. I followed him; a couple of students looked up as we passed.
It was pitch dark in there. I could hardly see his face, just make out his smile in the faint light from the street light through the window. He walked straight to the end of the little enclosure and leaned against the wall. I leaned against the opposite wall. We were both laughing. "Come on then," he said, "I thought you were going to do all kinds to me before my clothes were even off?"
I steeled myself and stepped forward. I walked right up to him until our bodies were touching. I couldn't see his face. I leaned forwards and rested my hands on the wall above his shoulders. I put my face close to his and brushed my lips against his cheek, lingering around but not touching his mouth, then kissing his neck really gently. He tasted like cologne. Then I slid a hand down to his waist and pulled him towards me. He started to respond and so I pulled away and laughed. "Shithouse," he said as I pulled the door handle to leave. He grabbed my arm and pulled me back inside, pushing me up against the wall. He pressed his body against mine, slipped his hand under my top and stroked my hip, and then...
Then he started thrusting a hand between my legs. "Don't," I whispered, pulling on the lapels of his suit jacket. Then he started trying to rub me through my jeans, really roughly. It hurt. "Stop it," I said, and pushed him away. "Shithouse," he said again, and again when I opened the door and left. I stroked his chest. "Not here, not now," I said. "Why?" he asked. I just laughed and walked away.
He followed me and we went down separate staircases to the ground floor. As soon as he went through the doors of the middle staircase I bolted across the third floor, running past a load of students who were eyeing me like I was a madwoman. I was more than a little shellshocked. I have to say I was a bit disappointed in his moves. What the Hell was that all about? It was hardly smooth. I mean, I don't know how he expected to turn me on by doing that, was he looking for a switch down there??
That said, I was elated. But almost immediately he text me apologising and saying he took things too far. A flurried spate of texting extracted the following information: he regretted what had just happened, he didn't want to cheat on Sarah, he wasn't going to leave her, something might happen in the future between us, he wanted to fuck me everywhere, he didn't want to come between me and the Boyf, and he promised he wouldn't be weird with me in work. I also told him he'd been quite rough.
Himself: Oh right. You prefer it more gentle then.
Chica: To begin with.
Himself: I'll remember.
He said he was sorry and felt like he was messing me about but he didn't mean to. I felt really rubbish and wanted to scream yes you are messing me about could you give me any more mixed messages than this? But instead I text back that we'd said it was just harmless flirting so he wasn't messing me about and that I knew it wasn't going anywhere, in an effort to avoid said weirdness.
I turned off my phone about eleven that night, but the next morning when I turned it on there was a message from him trying to get me to send him saucy pictures! I replied, 'haha, cheeky, pictures like that have to be earned'. But inside I was thinking... well, WTF?
I've seen him since and it was a little awkward but he did wish me a good night that night (I was going out with people from work) and was asking about the sexy boots I'd brought with me to change into.
I really don't know what to make of it all. I just can't stop thinking about his face as he burst through those double doors and how funny it was. I'd rather forget the crotch debacle though.
I repeat: What the Fuck?

Corporation t-shirt, frickin' brilliant Tuesday
You know that song, I don't know what it's called, but there's a lyric that goes: last night a DJ saved my life? Well, that's going round in my head, but with the word t-shirt instead of DJ.
On Sunday I had a girlie day with my sister. We went shopping. I got holes punched in my ears. All very relaxing. (I'll come back to that.) In Zara, I spotted this great t-shirt. It had the crushes name on it, followed by the words, "This is my Boyfriend," and with the slogan "Personal Office Stories." Well, I nearly fell over when I saw it, I couldn't believe the coincidence. I dragged my sister into the shop to show her, and she forced me to buy it.
I wore it to work Monday. He approved. Then I sent him an e-mail saying "tomorrow I'm gonna wear one that says 'player' xx". I sent it at 9:07, and as you can see from my speechless post, they just kept on coming. He emailed me 16 times! Yes, I counted! And as you may also be able to see from the final email, things just kept getting hotter!
It wasn't just flirting. We had a really good chat in the staff room at lunch, not about anything important and other people were there, but it was just nice to talk to him like a normal human being. He made the effort to talk to me too. I was a very happy bunny and extra super nice to everyone I served!
And it wasn't just the content of the emails but the fact that every time he came downstairs I caught him looking at me. He even complained a couple of times that I hadn't emailed him back yet. I felt amazing.
Then today, I kind of went all out and wore a sexy grey backless polo neck jumper affair, with a black and grey tweed miniskirt and leggings (I know!) I got loads of compliments and 'Muffin went on about how gorgeous I was in front of him, bless his cotton socks! Himself was like, "Are you trying to impress somebody?" and flashed me a really cheeky grin. Later, he was stood behind Sassy at reception and he just gave me this really sexy look. I wanted to rip his clothes off right there. But I got all shy and looked away and I heard Sassy say something and he said, "I'm just smiling at her." Then he came over and asked P.Diddy what he thought of my outfit. P. said I looked lovely and I said P. was a gentleman and would never say anything different. Himself laughed and P. said "I'll tell you later."
Didn't see him much more for the rest of the day but as he left at five he said he'd meant to email me but he'd been in a meeting all afternoon, and that he liked the outfit :)
As I've been writing this, actually when I typed the words "I wanted to rip his clothes off right there", he's turned up unexpectedly. More later!

Secretary
I know I promised I wouldn't, but I've since had requests, and I've also been advised to delete these messages off my phone, which I don't think I can bear to do, so this is just in case I have to at a moments notice :P
After our morning break today, Himself came down and told me he'd texted me and I should go and get my phone. I talked to him a little bit (like, a sentence) and then picked my phone up out of my drawer, at which point he looked all shy, so I didn't read it in front of him. I took my book trolley to collect some things from the shelves and smuggled the phone out with me. It said: How about that meeting in my office? I, thinking he was just repeating the chat up lines of the weekend, quickly replied with a huge smile on my face.
Chica: You're all talk x
H: My office is empty
C: Are you tryna get me in trouble? I'm on holds, first floor is next on my list x
H: Ha. See you soon
When I got that empty office message, I nearly fell over. I ran and put some lipstick on and checked my hair in the mirror. Once there, however, it was hella awkward. I asked what I could do for him and he just laughed. We just kept looking at each other and laughing. I was the most nervous and blushing rather furiously at first but on looking back I have to say I went in there and actually tried to talk, while he invited me there and didn't really have a clue what he'd do if I came. We talked about job interviews. And a little about Saturday night. I said we'd crossed a line. He said nothing really happened and nothing would happen anyway. On my way out (I was running late with the job I was meant to be doing) I said, "So is that your final answer? Nothing can happen?" He looked surprised and said that 'Muffin had told him I wouldn't do anything. He asked me if I wanted something to happen. I said I didn't know and that I'd speak to him about it when I wasn't on the clock. But, once I got outside, I cracked and sent him a text. And then they just kept on coming until lunch time, when I had to sit opposite him in a room full of people, in torment.
C: ('Muffin's real name) has a high opinion of me x
H: And what exactly would you like to happen
C: Well I would simply like to get to know you better x
H: Is that in a 'get to know you better ;-)' kind of way
C: Well I would like you half naked and tied to an office chair really but I gotta start somewhere
H: Now that sounds like a plan
C: Haha, won't be able to look you in the face now x
H: I just want to know why I'm only half naked
C: Helps with balance x
H: The quiet ones are always the worst
C: I'll let you into a secret; I'm not really quiet, it's all a charade. You'll come to know this if you get to know me better ;) Have fun teaching x
H: Is that a 'get to know you' in a 'tied to an office chair' type of way
I'm totally freaking out about things with him now in a way I've never freaked out before. I hate that he knows how much I like him because I think that will be a major turn off. I just don't know what to do next. How do I get him to ask me out? Or should I just leave the ball in his court now? And, should I text him a 'good luck sexy' text in the morning for his job interview or not?

Part Time Lover
In the morning, I'm going to be interviewed for my own job. Well, half my own job. I've applied to go part time. I am the only candidate. Yet I have to be interviewed. Boy, they just love to make things complicated for us at work.
Was tempted to wear my pencil skirt, but Himself isn't in in the mornings so trousers it is :P
The annoying thing is, even though I've been told that it's going to be really informal and unless I tell my boss to fuck off I'll get it (by my boss), I only found out today and I feel really underprepared. Which is why I'm off swotting interview techniques, picking out a smart outfit and practising my responses to the questions I think are coming and not listening to really loud music in my earphones and writing inane blog posts right now...
Saturday is fast approaching and I'm beginning to feel sick with nerves. I still need a bag and shoes, space on my camera, an instant tan, the right hairstyle, and for the temperature to go up to at least a few degrees above zero please. Goosebumps are not a good look.
I'm thinking the night is going to pretty much be a catastrophe. If I don't end up with mascara running down my face wishing for Boyf to come and rescue me then I will be very surprised. I can really see it's a disaster in the making and I've noone to blame but myself. I can't back out because of 'Muffin and I'm also morbidly curious about what will happen.
Today at work I spoke to him a little bit. He came and spoke to me and a couple of coworkers for a bit while we were revising shelves. He asked me how I was feeling since he knows I've been off sick and I looked dog rough. I accused him of burning down the Staff Room as on one of the days I was off sick he made toast and set the fire alarms off and the whole building was evacuated. He blamed another person who was also making toast for not watching his toast while he bought hot chocolate. I teased him about it for a while, then we were talking about Saturday. I showed him the picture of my niece's dress. Before I showed him I was like "Don't make me regret showing you this, it's my niece, don't be pervy!"
Himself: God, hasn't she got big boobs for a 17 year old!
'Muffin: Must run in the family mustn't it?
Chica: *two finger salute*
Himself: Well would you rather I say that about your niece or perv on yours?
Chica: I'm saying nothing.
I walked away. I could feel my face glowing. But apparently it didn't show and 'Muffin complimented me on the way I handled it; he said the way I walked away was great and I was very calm and blase about the whole thing. (This is why I love the boy.)
If I hadn't been turning a shade of lobster, I would've liked to have said something a bit more... leading. Something along the lines of "You don't strike me as a boob man..." and then went on to describe what I thought was his type - since I know in detail from 'Muffin. Surely my accuracy would have astounded him and he could immediately see that I was the girl he'd been searching for, the girl who knew exactly what he wanted?!
Gah. Believe it or not the crush is waning slightly but still there enough for me to blush furiously every time he speaks to me. Seriously, he must think I have a problem. We were talking about how difficult it is to chat someone up who you actually like too. I felt like I had a fucking big arrow over my head.

Hello, I'm a robot, can I help you?
Dear Liverpool Lecturers,
I would like to humbly request that you stop giving your students little quizzes about using the library to fill in. It does not spur them into industry. They merely bring the survey to me, ask me all of the answers without endeavouring to look for themselves, and immediately relinquish any knowledge they may have gleaned from the exercise.
There are only so many times within an hour you can say 'The journals are all kept on the third floor in alphabetical order.' Or escort them to a particular class number (and always the same class numbers to everyone, can't we even mix it up a little?) while maintaining a friendly and welcoming demeanour. I have been sitting here for 23 minutes and have been asked these questions 17 times. I know, because every time they ask me, I have to tick a little box. (Yes, this is what I studied for five years to do.)
If you would like to talk to me in person, please do visit me at the library. I will look like this*.
Best,

Choose Life
I have never been so relieved to reach Friday in my life. I just cannot wait for 5 o'clock so I can yabba-dabba-do the hell out of this place. I have had the week from hell with my boss - the woman hates my guts. She really singles me out for some reason, and speaks to me in a way that she wouldn't dare talk to the older people here or any of the blokes. This week she even went so far as to trick me into doing something which she could later grill me over! I tell you, I am desperate for another job. Which is a shame, because as much as I moan about this place it's a pretty good job, and my main problem with it is old Troutface.
I really came so close to just throwing in the towel and quitting this week. I got really angry at myself for taking her shit and not being where I want to be in my life instead of having to play stupid mind games with the petty cow. And breathe.
To vent my frustration, the Boyf and I are off out straight from work tonight and plan on having a scrumptious meal to make up for such a crummy week. I'm massively proud of myself as I resisted going on a major retail therapy session and blowing all my money to cheer myself up - instead I am looking forward to my next French trip. But I did spend hours last night hunting through my wardrobe to find something to wear tonight. The red shoes are finally about to enjoy their premiere - I'm teaming them with jeans and black chiffon number that makes the Boyf look at me in that way. I just hope I manage to change quickly enough at five so that the security guard doesn't lock me in the building!

What goes around...
Where to begin? So this week has been a bit of a 'mare as far as work has been because there are all varieties of teething problems between departments and unfortunately, the friendly face of our department, me, gets it in the neck from the students when it's me that has to tell them. Messenger. Shoot. Don't. There was only really one guy that was a pain in the ass though; I wanted to slap him around the face with The Oxford English Dictionary. He asked me the same question over and over again, and when I referred him to the supervisor because he was disputing a fine exclaimed: "Well she's just going to give me the same jargon as you, so it's a waste of my time!" (Bloke next to me has just given me an odd look for my one handed typing.) He didn't stop there though and kept up with the questions - correction, the same question I had answered ten times already - also wanting to buy the book back. (So wish I'd told him to try Waterstones.) I knew there was going to be no getting rid of him. Eventually, I said "Do you want to see the supervisor or not, because you're wasting my time." Dude has a serious superiority complex. He huffed and walked off in a strop. He'll prob come back and complain about me. Whatever!
This morning a guy was kicking off because he had to wait in a queue for like 2 minutes to return books because we had just opened and the manager was still stocking the till. When it was his turn I steeled myself for an argument. He opened with: "Sorry for getting impatient babe! I just hate waiting!" God help him when we're actually busy.
On the opposite end of the scale, we've also had some really nice people in too. This guy who always loses books came in. He's always racking up massive bills but he's really sweet about paying for them. Some other bloke offered to buy me an Everton shirt (to convert me) and told his mates to look out for me in Garlands, and a guy I helped the other week came back in for a chat - the only problem being I have real trouble understanding him. The student who chatted me up when I came in for my interview chatted me up again too. And, had a good giggle with Potter the other day, plus he kind of reassured me that he had heard only good things about me from everyone. I can kind of tell who does and doesn't like me anyway.
Ooh, almost forgot to say, remember the state I was in last week because of the Hag? Well, a week to the day and she was sobbing in work because someone from another department had come down to shout at her for the way she spoke to a student and a member of their staff. I didn't take any pleasure from it to be honest, I felt bad for her. I don't think she has great people skills and someone was bound to get peeved at her eventually and bite back. Funny what you said about karma though MJ ;)

Lust for Glorious
Looks like Sienna just walked in.So how was your weekend? I had a total laze-fest, it was glorious. I really miss my boyfriend though. He's in Glasgow this week, due home tomorrow, can't wait! Am hoping for something along the lines of that famous scene from An Officer and a Gentleman, but I don't think he has the outfit... we should get him that outfit! I'm working late tomorrow and could really do with the distraction.
Behold the fabulousness of the new Sex and the City: The Complete Series shoe box! I want one! I'm holding out until after Christmas; if Santa doesn't read my blog, I'll splurge and buy it myself (just hope they don't sell out or something!) I can justify the spending because I'll really get my moneys worth out of it. SATC marathons are a regular occurrence at the Chica residence. It's so pretty!
Yesterday, I watched Closer. Oh My God. How disgusting are men?! Yeuch, I hope Clive Owen doesn't kiss his mother with that mouth! Bar of soap needed, stat. I do not get how Julia's character (my mate Julia Roberts that is :P) could find that man attractive when he is portrayed as such a sleazebag. That scene with Natalie Portman? Gross! I know Jude Law's character wasn't exactly squeaky clean on the language front, but that computer scene - how did they get away with showing that?! - was pretty funny. "Graphic sexual dialogue" indeed! That being said, I'd recommend this film. (But it should be rated NEVER WATCH IT WITH YOUR PARENTS... or on a first date, for that matter.) And I really liked Julia's eye make up! Natalie with red hair reminded me of Sharon Osbourne, but she rocked the pink wig.
Shazza?I filled out a job application yesterday too. It took me half the day! Bah - I hate supporting statements. It's for some student liaison post, helping them find work placements. It's better paid than my current job and has more chance of going somewhere. I've been trawling job websites recently. If any of them are actually interested in me, I don't think I'm going to be too popular with my boss, getting calls for references already! *sigh* Why can't I just wake up tomorrow and be Zadie Smith? I mean, is that too much to ask?

The Good, the Bad and the Fugly
Good: *searching* Towards the end of the day some sweet guy came up and asked me how to spell apologise, because he thought he was spelling it right but spellcheck was marking it wrong. I went and changed the language from English US to English UK, solving the problem. It's a simple thing but it was nice that I knew how to help him, and he was really appreciative, which feels good. Yes, this is the closest I get to job satisfaction. Unlike somebody :)
Bad: Stoopid Supervisor Hag belittling me in front of everyone and making me start the horrendous Guide job before my lunch was even over. A Guide is basically just an extra person on hand to show people things like the library catalogues and give directions and stuff, but it was dead today so it basically involved just hanging around the self issue machines waiting for a person who hasn't used it before to rock up. Also bad was the mere presence of 70's-Thinks-he's-a-Pimp, who makes me hurl. Number of enemies made today: #2.
Ugly: Me standing facing everybody on the counter as the Guide trying not to cry. And failing. I've been emotional all day and the stupid Hag pushed me over the edge by being a bitch for no reason (other than, as I found out later, her boss being on her case telling her to make sure people were doing their jobs properly. Shit rolls downhill, as my mum is fond of saying.) I think she was trying to make an example of me (despite the fact I was doing nothing wrong) because I'm new so she thinks she can get away with talking to me like shit whereas anyone else would have told her to get knotted. In the end I was crying because I was stood there like a Freak on show trying not to cry and to look friendly and approachable at the same time. For an hour. It got so bad that I was trying to remember the words to Barry Manilow and Wham songs to keep my mind busy. Perhaps that was a mistake. Sass eventually came over (interrupting my interior monologue of itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini) and took me to the Staff Room, which was full of people, so now the whole staff team have seen my red eyes. Then the manager asked to see me in her office. She was really nice but I've made a complete show of myself today and cried so much since then that I've made myself sick :(
Pretty much the worst day at work ever.
Ah well, Lost is on tonight. Sass tried to cheer me up by saying I should pretend I was going home to Matthew Fox, and in this small way I am :P

Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead
Today at work I actually put these words into Google: 'define: tedium' (ooh, but I did get a new chair!) So I've made a new game up to keep me entertained. It's called: Flirting with Potter. Seriously, I can't help myself today. My God-awful lines have included: "Does your trolley want to ride with me?" and, "Hello, I'm here to relieve you." Sexual harassment much? Okay so the thing to note here (for anyone thinking 'don't you have a boyfriend?') is that I don't actually fancy Potter (he has long fingernails), but he has a really attractive personality and even laughs at my lame ass attempts at double entendre. Just for the record, I didn't intend any of my double entendres today, they just sort of fell from my mouth. I think its an act of rebellion against being polite from 8:30 to 5:00. Maybe one day I'll start yelling at people on the bus. Until then I'll have to worry Potter for my own amusement *sigh*
Last night I half-watched Lost, half-shopped online. I got an email about a Sale. It called to me like a mythical sea siren luring weary sailors to their doom, or something. I ordered a whole heap of stuff and then couldn't remember exactly what this morning. It was one of those shopping hazes, induced by the 'all sale items a fiver' banner slithering across the screen in neon pink. Then, I got an email in work saying that two of the nicest things I ordered were out of stock. Waaaaa, I say. I was already envisioning wearing one of them with my jeans and a funky headband. Damn you! But please deliver the rest of my clothes safely, thanks :)
Oh, did I mention I'm off tomorrow?
P.S. Happy Birthday to Hoggle, who reached the grand old age of *ahem - pardon, didn't quite catch that* yesterday.
